Learn how to save time by importing your time entries in Timeneye from a CVS file.
🌟 This feature is included in the STARTER Plan and above
If you’re the admin/owner of a workspace on Timeneye, it’s possible to bulk import your Time entries from a CSV file. This feature is super helpful for inserting a significant amount of data into Timeneye instead of manually, which would be tedious and time-consuming (and we hate time-consuming activities!).
How to prepare your CSV file for importing
Before you start importing data, there are a few things you need to check so that our system can upload the CSV file correctly:
- Make sure the data is complete and clean;
-
The columns can be separated by whichever separator you prefer; we'll detect it automatically
-
There are some required columns: entry time, entry date, project name, phase name, and user name. Client name and additional description columns are optional.
Importing your data into Timeneye
Once you’ve set up your CSV file, here’s a step-by-step guide to importing your entries:
1) Go to your Data management section and click on Import Data and select your source (in this case, Entries);
2) Drag and drop your file inside the CSV-entries tab;
3) Once the file is uploaded, you will be redirected to a data upload view:
- You’ll need to specify whether the first row of your file contains column titles or actual data.;
- You will have to match each column from the CSV file with the corresponding element on Timeneye:
3) When you’re done, click on Upload file. You'll be redirected to the Map Data view. If the mapping show is correct, click Next:
4) The final steps: you will see an overview of the projects and phases to upload.
5) You might be asked to link users if our system doesn’t recognize them. When you're done, confirm and you'll be good to go!
6) When the Import is finished, click Done and the view will reset.
To start a new import, go back to the Import page. You’ll also find a recap displaying your recent import sessions along with their status.
