Are you working on different projects, and do you want to keep track of the time spent on each of them? Here is how with Timeneye!
Creating a project is compulsory to start tracking time in Timeneye. Users with the permission role of Admin or Owner can create projects.
Group Managers can create projects, but only for the groups they are part of.
How to create a new project
There are two ways. The first one is from the Register Time dialog: click on the Project text field and select Create New Project.
The second one is from the Project section in the sidebar menu. On the Project list page, click on the green New Project button, in the top right corner.
1. Fill in the Project information:
Type the Project name in the text box and select a color to better recognize the project in the Dashboard.
2. Add Team Members
Add your team members so they can also track time for that project. Simply start typing the name of a team member and hit enter to add him/her.
If your projects are always available to all team members, simply select the option Make the project public for the workspace. In this way, all the team members (even the upcoming ones) will be able to track time for a particular project.
You can also assign the project to a client.
3. Add Phases
Phases are compulsory to track time on Timeneye. Set one or multiple Phases for the project by typing the phase’s name and hitting enter to confirm. After using Timeneye for a while, the system will start suggesting the most common Phases you use as you type. And here we are: your phases will be set in a blink of an eye!
Add Tags
Tags are like labels in Timeneye that you can assign to time entries. To make sure tags are used correctly you can assign specific tag lists to a project, and even make them compulsory. For more information, please read this detailed guide on how tags work in Timeneye.
Set up the billable type, and budgets of the projects
Before we explain how billing and budget work in Timeneye, let's see in details the three types of projects you can create in Timeneye. The three different project types give you the flexibility to track a diverse project portfolio, and adapt to your contractual agreements
Time&Material Project
🌟 This feature is included in the STARTER Plan and up
A project that is billed by the hour, with billable rates. In this type of project, you typically charge for expenses as well. In Timeneye, Time&Material projects can also have a budget (time budget, or monetary budget) and they are billable projects. This means that when it's time to bill a Time&Material project, you can do it from the Entries section of the workspace, by marking the individual entries as billed.
Fixed Fee Project
🌟 This feature is included in the PREMIUM Plan
A project that has a set price, regardless of the amount of time tracked. In this case, you and your client have agreed on a specific fee and that is what you'll invoice your client. A Fixed-fee project in Timeneye isn't considered billable, meaning that you can't check time entries as billed. However, you can record invoice amounts as payments are received on the Project status page.
Non-Billable Project
A project that doesn't have an hourly rate and isn't billed by the hour to a client. For example, an internal project, projects that contain administrative work, training, or any type of project that you have decided not to bill to a client for whatever reason.
You can also decide what type of project budget you need to track, for each of the three different project types:

How to quickly create multiple projects
Importing projects from an integration
Timeneye has made it a mission to fit seamlessly into your workflows. Thanks to the native integrations we built with several different services, you'll be able to import your projects from the tools you're already using, in Timeneye.
For example, you can import projects from Microsoft Planner:
For more information, please see this guide on the Integration between Timeneye and other services.
Creating multiple projects from a template
How many times have you created the same type of project over and over again? In Timeneye, we aimed to speed up such a tedious procedure, so we have added the possibility of creating multiple projects using your existing projects as templates. Admins will find this option in the Projects section of the account by clicking the drop-down arrow next to New Project:
Choose a name for the project, then simply select the existing project you want to use as a template. The new project will be an exact duplicate of the template itself.
Importing Projects from CSV file
You can also import your projects and phases from a CSV file to speed up the process. This option is recommended if you have a large database of projects to import, or if you're importing historical data when switching from another time tracking service.
